The Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.

Responsibilities include:



  1. Direct patient care delivery (includes ADLs, hygiene measures, select treatments, patient/family education, discharge preparation)





  1. Communication and documentation of interventions and observations





  1. Participation in quality improvement process





  1. Involved in learning and self-improvement





  1. Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers



Current NA II opportunities exist across UH Elyria Medical Center including:



  • Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)



  • Emergency



  • General Acute Care (Medical/Surgical)



  • Joint Camp



  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)



  • Operative Services



  • Step Down



  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)



Required For All Jobs



  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
