The Senior Designer, Piping provides design support for piping,
hanger supports, details and construction documents for the
following systems (to include but not limited to): high purity
gases, chemicals, upstream and downstream biologics processing,
fill/finish, high purity water, waste treatment, and clean
process and support utilities, equipment layouts, and the like.
Also assist in mentoring interns and less experienced designers
in piping activities.


Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop Piping construction documents using architectural
    and equipment background layouts and system performance
    requirements defined by the project leadership team
  • Assists senior staff with services during construction,
    including responding to RFIs, shop drawings, submittal reviews
    and as-built drawings
  • Assists in pre-design project activities, such as site
    assessment, site plan review, and verification of as built
    conditions
  • Assists project team to develop optimum system sizing,
    routing, materials, and space management for mechanical and
    piping systems
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of Piping Standards
    (e.g., 2D CAD Blocks and/or 3D Families etc.)
  • Coordinate and lead a team of designers in multiple High
    Value Engineering Centers
  • Design projects in compliance with engineering codes (e.g.,
    ASME B31.3), standards, principles, relevant specifications,
    and contractual requirements
  • Assists in the production of construction documents under
    the supervision of a Professional Engineer and Lead Designers,
    while coordinating with other disciplines (e.g., Structural,
    Electrical, Process etc.)
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review and checking of
    project deliverables
  • Mentor interns and less experienced designers on project
    teams
  • Assists in the development of construction drawings,
    details, schedules, and diagrams for piping systems
  • Advanced understanding of piping and routing technologies
    and associated components
  • Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Perform clash detection reviews and facilitate space
    management meetings
  • Understand the importance of pipe stress analysis and pipe
    flexibility for thermal growth in piping systems
  • Assist in providing technical expertise for studies and
    design efforts
  • Assist in developing Piping List (i.e., Line, Valve,
    Specialty & Tie-in etc.)
  • Perform site surveys, as built and material take-off (MTO)
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 8+ years of experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree with technical focus preferred
  • Good time management skills, strong work ethic and
    attention to details
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk Building Systems Software
  • Individual must possess strong communication and
    organizational skills
  • Strong team player with an ability to build effective
    working relationships
  • Energetic and self-motivated

  • Intermediate knowledge in understanding Process,
    Structural, I&C, Electrical & Mechanical documents

  • Plant 3D & Revit
  • Advance field and plant site experience
