Job Description

This position is for a Validation Engineer in the Mobile Systems (MSB) Division in Skyworks Newbury Park, CA design center. The successful candidate will possess an excellent understanding of RF, be a driven & committed team player, and have excellent communication skills. Our Validation Engineers are involved in the Characterization, Tuning, and Production readiness of high-performance Front End Solutions used by the Cellular/Mobile Device Industry's largest and most successful companies. Validation Engineers are the glue that holds together the new product development process. As a Skyworks' MSB employee you have the chance to have a uniquely large impact on the success of the company.

Validation Engineers' core focus is to create the linkage between design, characterization and production test. The engineer will decipher and convert the customer's specification into a workable test solution. This involves both software and hardware development. In addition, the candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team supporting the characterization and device validation of cellular power amplifiers and front end modules. The ability to tune & optimize Power Amplifiers is a desired skill-set.

The work will include but not be limited to the following:

* Generate files with testplan to be used by automation tools to evaluate modules.

* Modifies programs that drive automated test solutions.

* Drives Design Verification Test (DVT) testing and actively provides feedback to Design

* Completes the Design Scorecard and/or Customer Compliance Matrix highlighting performance deficiencies and areas that need focus

* Serves as the Technical Customer Interface

* Serves as the key interfaces to Product Engineering (PE), Characterization Engineering (CE), and Test Engineering (TE)

* Responsible for the transition from DVT testing to characterization to final test

Software Tools used are:

* C/C++ & scripting languages

* MS Office /Outlook

* Python

Hardware Tools used are:

* Network Analyzers

* Spectrum Analyzers

* Signal Generators

* Digital Receivers

* Load-Pull/Tuners

Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience

5+ years of experience measuring, tuning, optimizing RF and/or analog/mixed-signal IC's

Excellent communication, a passion to win/contribute, ability to work in and thrive in a team environment. Be self-sufficient and capable to run a project on its own from the start to completion.

A successful Validation Engineer will possess proficiency in RF measurement equipment as well as test software development. A strong understanding of RF fundamentals, analog design concepts, PA concepts, wireless knowledge, test equipment operation and test equipment automation is critical for success. Experience in software development methodologies and C/C++ programming skills are a must. he candidate must demonstrate capability to operate in a multi-disciplinary team and adhere to project schedules. Experience with CDMA/WCDMA GSM/EDGE transmit components is desired.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$89,100 -$172,100 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
