Your Job

The Data Science Team within Georgia-Pacific is seeking a data science intern to join our team, this upcoming Summer 2025 in Atlanta, GA. This will be a 12-week hybrid internship opportunity that runs from late May to mid-August 2025.

We are looking for a Data Science Intern to join a team of Data Scientists and Associate Data Scientists, to focus on providing support and solutions to our manufacturing operations. Working closely with business partners and engineers, the intern supports operations through development and deployment of useful and scalable statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models that make our facilities safe, efficient, and optimal.

What You Will Do

  • Analytics Project Ownership: Own all aspects of analytics projects from start to finish - pursuing innovative ideas, developing models, uncovering, communicating actionable insights, and implementing solutions to capture value.
  • Work with various engineering teams, own end-to-end solution development and scaling focused on Operations (manufacturing) challenges.
  • Partnership: Develop and maintain relationships with key business partners to enable improved decision making.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a field related to data science such as Engineering Mathematics or Business Analytics or Statistics or Computer Science or Data Science.
  • Experience creatively applying statistical analysis and machine learning using Python and/or SAS.
  • Experience using SQL to retrieve data.
  • Eligible for full time employment on or before Summer 2026.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in SAS Code for the purpose of statistics or machine learning.
