About the Team & Role

The Manager, Cloud Engineering provides technical and strategic leadership in the implementation of "Paved Road" public cloud offerings for consumption in the WEX Enterprise. In this role, you will lead of team of highly skilled engineers who are partnered with Enterprise Architecture and DevOps peers to identify cloud technologies that are of value to the enterprise and create a consumable offering that meets all requirements for use at WEX including, Security, Compliance, Availability, and Recoverability.Perform hands-on technical tasks as necessary to advance goals and objectives of the team.

How you'll make an impact

  • Analysis, selection, and modification of cloud technologies

  • Automate installation and orchestration of cloud solutions

  • Ensures all solutions are designed to protect the company's data, tools, and information systems.

  • Ensures infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility.

  • Coordinates delivery of services to user groups and ensures IT service is uninterrupted.

  • Work collaboratively with people from across the business to identify and implement both long-term strategic and innovative solutions as well as implement the near term tactical needs of today.

  • Support the business by anticipating, understanding and meeting customer needs to generate new business opportunities and to improve our ability to meet customer requirements.

  • Responsible for the creation of infrastructure work plans for engineering personnel:

  • Level of effort

  • Prioritization

  • Resource planning

  • Tracking and monitoring of projects

  • Ensuring deadlines are met (including those managed externally by a third party).

  • Plan and implement upgrades, patches and other technical system requirements.

  • Work with the Product Development team, company units and external suppliers/consultants, to optimize delivery efficiency and ensure a solid, high performance, cost-effective and reliable product platform.

  • Manage appropriate 3rd party software relationships.

  • Propose investments and manage for:

  • Financial planning and control of division-wide spending

  • Budgeting of capital expenditures

  • Responsible for engineering personnel administration including:

  • Performance reviews

  • Salary administration

  • Professional development

  • Hiring and firing, etc.

  • Responsible for the development and enforcement of corporate policies and procedures, including:

  • Standards for maintenance and support

  • Project management

  • Performance management

  • Security and legal/statutory requirements.

Experience you'll bring

  • Minimum 4-year degree or equivalent work experience with knowledge of and applicable technical skills.

  • Minimum 10 years Infrastructure Management and/or DevOps experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and coordination of long range strategic plan and near term operation plan including tracking and measuring adherence and impact.

  • Highly knowledgeable in AWS product offerings, CloudFormations, Ansible, Jenkins, Linux and Windows OS, Java Application Servers, and Web Server technologies.Experience in 6-7 or more implementations including:

  • Data Center migrations from on-premise to Public Cloud

  • Design and implementation of multi-site Data Center recovery capabilities

  • Implementation of Highly Available infrastructure solutions for 99.999% availability

  • Implementation of highly automated Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Solutions

  • Integration of new portfolios into existing systems (brining on new accounts)

  • Must have demonstrable experience driving the completion of complex enterprise projects.

  • Prepared and willing to provide Performance Management coaching and mentoring.

  • Working knowledge of Client Server/Open Systems applications with experience in at least two implementation and works as a functional or technical lead during engagements.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability through successful Project Management and Maintenance and Support management roles.

  • Experience directing, leading, managing, and mentoring a team of at least 4-6 or more direct reports

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with AWS cloud native solutions

  • Experience implementing fully automated consumable services from an IT Service Catalog

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking

  • ITIL Certification

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
