JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The laboratory of Dr. Roger Beaty (Cognitive Neuroscience of Creativity Lab) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for aPostdoctoral Scholarposition. The anticipated start date is Fall 2024 (with the earliest possible start date of August 1).

ThePostdoctoral Scholar will work on an NSF-funded project that uses generative AI and/or brain imaging to study creativity in the context of STEM education. The position involves data collection, analysis, mentoring students, and writing research papers for publication.

Postdoctoral Scholars receive mentorship and resources to prepare them for an independent career, including advanced training in research methods like fMRI, machine learning, network science, and psychometric analysis.

They also engage in professional development activities such as writing manuscripts and grants, presenting at conferences, and receiving career planning guidance. Funding is available to support conference travel and other professional development opportunities.

Requirements include a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, education, computer science, or a related field, with a record of publications. Applicants must have the PhD in hand or have completed all requirements for the PhD by the appointment date.

In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

The position is located on Penn State's University Park Campus in central Pennsylvania and is a term appointment for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of renewal.
