JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, the first industrial engineering department in the world, is pleased to announce a search for an outstanding non-tenure-track hire with a start date as early as August 2024. The successful candidate may be hired at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor level, depending on their qualifications. Specifically, the non-tenure-line academic rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience, as specified in Penn State's AC21 policy. This is a term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The appointment may be for a duration of 1 year to 5 years. Length of term will be determined by education and qualifications. The primary duties of the non-tenure-track faculty member will be administrative oversight of either the undergraduate or graduate program, as well as innovative and high-quality teaching of undergraduate industrial engineering courses. Qualified faculty may also teach graduate industrial engineering courses. Applicants must have master's or terminal degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field by the appointment start date and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates whose background and interest will enable them to excel at academic administration and teach multiple undergraduate courses in at least one area of industrial engineering, including operations research, service systems, human factors, statistics/data science/machine learning, and manufacturing, will be considered. The Department is especially interested in candidates whose background and/or service interests promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
