JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: An Assistant Research Professor (non-tenure track) position is available immediately at The Pennsylvania State University. The successful candidate will perform research in collaboration with the Ferrari lab and Shea lab in The Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics. The successful candidate will lead research on an National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project to develop optimal surveillance/monitoring and control strategies for infectious disease in resource constrained settings. The successful candidate will develop independent research and contribute to a multi-institution project studying endemic foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Turkey and developing monitoring and control strategies for endemic FMD in low-income countries. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects on surveillance for COVID-19, measles, and rubella. Education and Experience Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as ecology, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, veterinary epidemiology, physics), at least three years of Postdoctoral research experience, a strong interest in dynamical systems, and a history of productivity. Familiarity with R is preferred, though the successful candidate will have freedom to develop analyses and models in the language in which they are most proficient. Experience in communicating quantitative analyses to a non-technical audience and experience working with large collaborative groups is an advantage. Additional Information This is a term appointment funded for one year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of extension.
