JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A Postdoctoral position is available at The Pennsylvania State University to conduct research on root traits improving root depth, N capture, and water capture in maize, utilizing the functional-structural model OpenSimRoot. The Scholar will be part of a team researching avenues to increase root depth in maize, including architectural, anatomical, and metabolic traits, and developing novel technologies to phenotype them. The Scholar will employ OpenSimRoot, the leading root model. The ideal applicant will have initiative, expertise in plant or crop modeling, preferably in OpenSimRoot, plant physiology, plant/soil interactions, and programming experience. Excellent communication skills desired. A PhD in a related field is required for this position. The position is available starting July 2020.
