Director of Human Resources

Our Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function. The HR Director is a services and solutions provider to the operating group. They maintain and enhance the organization's human resources function by implementing and evaluating team member relations and human resources polices, programs and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures compliance
  • Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
  • Communicates changes in personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed
  • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of wage and salary program
  • Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
  • Consults with legal counsel on personnel matters as appropriate
  • Oversees talent acquisition and onboarding processes
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development
  • Supervises the staff of the human resource department
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities upon hiring. Direct reports include human resources managers and representatives

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are decided by the hiring manager.

Travel

Travel would be up to 40% throughout the year.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university
  • 7+ years of direct experience
  • Professional in Human Resources or comparable HR certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff, including executives
  • Competencies include excellent presentation/facilitation, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Requires high level computer expertise, including use of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications
  • Flexible, innovative in a fast paced, growth-oriented and time-critical environment
