Casual Staff- New Student Career Advisor

Position Summary: The New Student Career Advisor is a recent Yeshiva University alumna/us whose purpose is to have initial conversations with first time on campus students about the career strategy process. The NSCA will conduct outreach to this student cohort to arrange for individual and group discussions pertaining the necessity to begin one's career planning process during the first year on campus.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Create office hours of availability to meet with new students who may be uncertain about beginning a career strategy
  • Attend new student classroom presentations with SGC staff member(s)
  • Meet with new students either virtually or in-person with a goal of normalizing the career planning process
  • Use assessment tools to collect data on the interests and ideas of new students towards the career planning process
  • Partner with SGC team members on new student initiatives
  • Input notes and keep all activity records in the


Experience & Education Background:

Must have graduated from a Yeshiva University undergraduate college within the past year


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong listening skills - able to discern reasons for career indecision
  • Collaboration - able to work with SGC team members on various new student projects
  • Dedication - able to be a resource for new students by being able to relate on a personal level as a part-time member of the team who can display concern and compassion to new student concerns
  • Organization - will be required to schedule appointments with multiple constituents and keep advising notes on each new student encounter


Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 per hour
