Process Engineer II - PCBA/SMT Manufacturing

What You Will Do:

We are seeking a Process Engineer to focus on our SMT / Circuit Card Assembly processes. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all related manufacturing equipment and processes required to assemble a high-quality product in a repeatable and cost-effective manner. You will support Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Through-Hole (THT) manufacturing processes, the programming and support of automated placement systems, and solder reflow processes. You will also support electronic product introduction and development projects and implement and support assembly processes for the SMT, selective solder, and final fabrication areas for circuit card builds.



This on-site position is located at our headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Process Engineering Manager.

How You Will Do It:

  • Program, set up, and debug SMT/THT equipment. Equipment can include a solder paste printer, solder paste inspection (SPI), pick-and-place machine, reflow solder oven, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), X-ray, selective wave solder, aqueous wash, and conformal coating.
  • Create, update, and manage documentation (i.e., work instructions, routings, and other department procedures).
  • Provides technical support for the production floor's critical process and product issues.
  • Execute engineering/manufacturing change orders. Develops and maintains in-process quality control systems to ensure product quality.
  • Drives and implements continuous improvement projects with production personnel.
  • Provides ongoing product and process improvements to meet quality, continuous improvement, and production goals.
  • Creates and supports PFMEA and product/process risk analysis of new products
  • Develops and supports new manufacturing processes/equipment.
  • Coordinates prototype builds and process development.
  • Supports design for manufacturability
What We Look For:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics, mechanical, industrial/manufacturing engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three years of experience in SMT/CCA process/manufacturing engineering processes.
  • Must have strong knowledge of surface mount and through-hole technologies.
  • Must be familiar with IPC/EIA J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
  • Must have a working knowledge of CAD software, Pick and Place software, and databases.

Desired

  • Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI) and conformal coating programming and support.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-600.
  • Experience making quality calls on non-conforming material through a Material Review Board process.
