PositionSummary The Geoscience Leader, Asset Management, is responsible for leading the geology asset team to advance key company initiatives and complete critical technical evaluations.This individual is expected to manage the geology asset team, providing technical leadership, guiding the performance and development of early and mid-career geoscientists, and contributing on special projects intended to enhance Chord's development practices.Planning support for Chord's Execution D&C Teams and monitoring of competitor activity is also part of this role. This position will report to the Vice President of Asset Management and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience. Essential Job Functions
  • Lead and manage geoscience team
  • Setting goals, facilitating progress, and achieving goals
  • Facilitate geoscience technical best practice workflows with staff
  • Champion geoscience impact across other E&P functions
  • Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with other peer level functionalmanagers to prepare and facilitate company objectives
  • Promote a team environment within functional and cross-functional teams
  • Understand Company Mission and Vision and promote Company values and culture
  • Champion the staff on foundational technical expertise leading to top tier geoscience interpretations, OOIP fundamentals and practices, and incorporation of emerging technologies
  • Provide leadership and technical contribution on special projects, including those intended to enhance well performance, development practices, and risk mitigation
  • Advance the company's understanding of existing and emerging subsurface technologies for developing unconventional and conventional reservoirs
  • Review, monitor, and evaluate competitor activity across focus basins
  • Review analysis, integration, and interpretation of whole core and well log data in petrophysical studies and subsequent recommendations
  • Additional duties as needed for Company operations

  • Master's degree in Geology
  • 15years of experience with a strong background in unconventional plays
  • 3 years of leadership/supervisor experience of geoscience personnel
  • Experience in setting and achieving goals and objectives, providing feedback and coaching with personnel
  • Experience in multi-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of unconventional resource development practices, including reservoir, completions, and drilling engineering principles
  • Working knowledge of interpretation geophysics workflows
  • Proficient use of geologicalworkstations (Kingdom, PETRA) and Microsoft Office software (Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Outlook)
  • Self-motivated individual with stronganalytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to readprinted materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

  • Experience in the Williston Basin
  • Experience with drilling operations to properly evaluate subsurface risks up hole to aide well planning
  • Experience with machine learning and data analytics workflows related to geoscience
  • Experience with 2D & 3D seismic interpretation and geo workflows
  • Experience with conventional plays with an understanding of associated geoscience workflows
