This position works with Superintendents, Project Managers, Project Executives and trade partner (subcontractor) employees to foster an industry leading safety culture and administer, direct, and implement corporate safety and health policies and procedures. Typically has multiple site responsibility and leads other safety professionals in the region. 25%+ travel required

Responsibilities

    Create, communicate, enforce and identify opportunities for improvements in safety programs
  • Foster Suffolk's "Safer Together" safety culture
  • Mentor and Supervise Safety Managers as required by VP, EHS
  • Provide expertise as related to project-specific safety processes and document storage
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate trade partner / subcontractors Pre-Construction Safety Planning Meetings acting as a resource for field operations with compliance on Federal (OSHA) and state as well as local safety and health regulations including NFPA and other Standards
  • Review all Trade Partner / Subcontractors Site Specific Safety Programs and Pre-task Plans/ Job Hazard Analysis prior to TP / Subcontractor mobilization.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled site evaluations, follow up and tracking of corrections to deficiencies
  • Periodically attend and monitor Tool Box Talks conducted by subcontractors to assure documentation and quality.
  • Perform root cause and accident investigation techniques in the event of a job site accident - including collection of Suffolk Safety and Health standard incident reporting forms and documentation working closely with Risk Managers
  • Active coordination with Regional Risk Manager's for identification of Claims trends and pro-active risk management planning
  • Enforce documentation from all TPs / subcontractors on the proper training of their employees as related to their scope of work.
  • Conduct internal training for OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, HAZWOPER, and other Safety related topics.


Qualifications

  • Seeking candidate with proven Safety track record in the Mission Critical Data Center ground up construction segment.
    • Experience in all phases of Data Centers; Civil, Steel Erection, High Voltage, Underground Utilities, Substation, and all related MEP requirements.
  • Candidate must possess Suffolk's Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Hard Work and Professionalism
  • 5+ years of related work experience in field of Construction Health and Safety. Working knowledge of Federal and State safety and health regulations, as well as local building code issues for safety and health
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction or Safety preferred but not required
  • Qualified OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainer
  • Professional CSHT
  • Demonstrated leadership with construction and safety technologies and practices
  • Willingness to provide best in class customer service
  • Completed required internal training with Learning and Development team
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Individual must be collaborative and positive in directing people
  • Capacity to coordinate efforts with field staff and external partners
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to make decisions promptly and with confidence
  • Sound business judgment
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and multi-task


Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
