Job Title: Field Technical Support Specialist - Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Systems

Location: Richmond location to cover: Richmond, Norfolk, Roanoke and Charleston (WV) markets

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Technical Support Specialist to join our team, focusing on Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. The successful candidate will provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for our VRF equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This role requires extensive travel to customer sites within Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland, a deep understanding of HVAC systems, and excellent problem-solving abilities. Note that all maintenance and repair labor will be performed by our customers, with our specialist providing guidance and support.

Key Responsibilities:

On-Site Support:



  • Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for VRF systems at customer locations.
  • Guide customers through diagnostics and repairs on VRF equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and provide recommendations.
  • Customer Service:
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and service requests.
  • Offer professional advice and training to customers on the operation and maintenance of VRF systems.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to foster trust and satisfaction.


Technical Expertise:



  • Stay updated on the latest VRF technology, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge through training and certifications.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering and product development teams based on field experiences.


Documentation and Reporting:



  • Maintain detailed records of service visits, including diagnostics, repairs, and customer interactions.
  • Prepare and submit accurate service reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of technical manuals and support documentation.


Collaboration:



  • Work closely with the sales team to support pre-sales activities, including system demonstrations and technical presentations.
  • Collaborate with other technical support specialists to share knowledge and solve complex issues.
  • Assist in training new team members and providing mentorship as needed.



Qualifications:

Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., EPA 608, NATE) are a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with VRF systems or similar HVAC equipment.

Technical Skills:



  • Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC systems, particularly VRF technology.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and refrigeration principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.


Soft Skills:



  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including rooftops and confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland, sometimes on short notice.
