Job Description

As the world works and lives faster, FIS is leading the way. Our fintech solutions touch nearly every market, company, and person on the planet. Our teams are inclusive and diverse. Our colleagues work together and celebrate together. If you want to advance the world of fintech, we'd like to ask you: Are you FIS?

About the team

We are the FIS Embedded Finance team, and our mission is to enable developers across all verticals to imagine, create and monetize financial products to profoundly transform the way the entire financial industry consumes services. Today, it's difficult for many businesses to build the financial products they imagine. Whether that's launching a new credit or debit card, a savings account, a lending business, or anything else - there are barriers in the way that require excessive time and effort. We make it trivially easy for businesses to compliantly offer financial products and innovate on their key differentiators rather than spend all their time building and maintaining financial infrastructure. Learn more about us at atelio.com.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help us build a brand-new financial technology platform for the future. In this role, you will play a crucial role generating insightful reports, and supporting finance and operations teams with data-driven decision-making. You will be responsible for creating and managing data pipelines for settlement and reconciliation with our banks, performing analysis across all of the company's services, and undertaking various other data-related tasks to drive operational efficiency and optimize financial processes.

What you will be doing

  • Generate meaningful and actionable reports by analyzing financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights to stakeholders across the organization. Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline data-related processes, enhance data quality, and improve efficiency in financial operations. Propose and implement innovative solutions and best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and engineering, to understand their data needs, provide analytical support, and contribute to data-driven decision-making.

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient ETL processes to extract, transform, and load financial data from multiple sources, ensuring accurate settlement and reconciliation with our partner banks.

  • Translate business requirements into clean, maintainable, scalable, and well documented code.

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications and systems that provide value to internal or external users.

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.

  • Provide live on-call support by participating in the team on-call rotation and owning production issues from root cause analysis to resolution to future prevention.

What you will need

  • At a minimum, a Bachelor's in CS, Finance, Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field or equivalent education, and 3+ years of relevant professional work experience.

  • Proven work experience as a Data Engineer, Scientist, Analyst, or a similar role within the finance or operations domain.

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience leading projects from architectural design to production, while setting and maintaining high standards of technical excellence across your team.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, and a history of collaborating effectively with your team and cross-functional stakeholders.

Added bonus if you have

  • Typical qualifications for the role are 7+ years of relevant professional experience or a combination of work experience and advanced education.

  • Proven ability to self-direct your technical work and scope projects effectively.

  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and data modeling.

  • Familiarity with financial concepts or fintech software.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, and a history of collaborating effectively with your team and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • A strong understanding of security best practices for building enterprise applications.
