Quality Assurance Engineer with Civil or Mechanical

Underground Solutions is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer within a Civil or Mechanical environment for a Hybrid position in Pittsburgh, PA area.

Underground Solutions, Inc. (UGS), a subsidiary of Azuria Water Solutions, is at the forefront of innovation in water infrastructure and electrical conduit solutions. Our dynamic and rapidly growing company specializes in PVC fusion and pipe technologies, offering a range of proprietary and patented solutions designed to enhance water and wastewater infrastructure and facilitate underground electrical conduit installation.

  • Oversee the quality assurance aspects of our product lines, focusing on pipe fusion, production, and material verification. The role involves ensuring that our products meet rigorous standards for quality, reliability, usability, and performance

  • Review and approve or reject fusion joint reports from fusion technicians

  • Oversee extruder locations, coordinating testing, reporting, and troubleshooting

  • Supervise third-party lab pipe extrusion tests

  • Maintain and update pipe quality and fusion databases

  • Assess pipe lot runs based on results from extruders and labs

  • Prepare tensile test specimens using a CNC machine

  • Conduct tensile testing with a Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and generate reports using UTM software

  • Analyze tensile test results to determine plastic deformation and ultimate strength

  • Provide technical support for ongoing projects, new product evaluations, and test activities

  • Analyze quality and field data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Polymer, Civil, Mechanical, Materials Science)

  • EIT preferred

  • 1 year of experience or coursework in material testing or infrastructure construction, product testing, or working with extruders

  • Experience with underground utility infrastructure preferred

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MathCAD preferred

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
