Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Asphalt Maintenance Technician in Albuquerque, NM who will be responsible toConduct maintenance assignments and duties under limited supervision. Increases the efficiency of the maintenance process through the creation of safe and cost-effective job plans while maintaining a monthly budget as assigned by the facility Manager. Can also assist in the general support of the day-to-day production & reliability of the facility based on the facility's needs.

Job Duties

  • Supports average productivity and provides available resources to determine ways to improve goal attainment for the following weeks.
  • Communicates with various department management to ensure resources are in place to complete a specified average number of work orders as determined by the schedule
  • Execute plans to improve schedule attainment and review monthly with the plant manager.
  • Collaborates with the purchasing department on all items in purchasing that affect scheduled work.
  • Acts as liaison with other team members and schedulers for work scope & procedure procurement.
  • Provides proficient operations of some or all of the following software (depending on location): Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Project, assigned maintenance system, and procurement programs.
  • Order parts and miscellaneous materials and/or other special materials when required.
  • Assist with reading and verifying drawings and approval sign-offs for in-kind equipment replacement and job completion status and create sketches, drawings, and bills of material for miscellaneous work.
  • Interacts with the purchasing department on all bid items for material specifications and specific procedures as needed.
  • Maintains field verification and dimensional checks on in-kind equipment replacements to verify conformance to specifications.


Other duties may include some of the following:



  • Identifies the necessary tools, materials, and resources needed to complete a pre-identified task and creates and completes daily work scopes.
  • Ensures management is fully informed of any potential shortfalls/problems in daily assignments or daily plant equipment inspections.
  • Forklift operation and, in general, any duties required to support and contribute to an efficient maintenance program.
  • Plan facility outage work steps and procedures, including material, labor resources, and equipment/tools.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and coaching for subordinates and peers.


Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

  • Intermediate mechanical level skills in fixed and rotating equipment (automotive or similar, may be acceptable).
  • Basic mathematical skills are required.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, testing, and repairing existing fixed and rotating equipment required, which could include automotive or similar, may be acceptable.
  • Ability to work alone any time of the day in all types of weather.

Preferred Experience

Three years of construction or automotive mechanical experience or experience in the petroleum or petrochemical industry is preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Preferred Education

Trade school or journeyman/craftsman training is recommended, and a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Required Skills

Knowledge of petroleum industry operations and craft knowledge. Intermediate-level leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Basic reading and writing skills and the ability to perform basic-level mathematical calculations. Proven interpersonal skills. Self-starter and safety and environmental sensitivity. Troubleshooting skills and ability to function effectively in a team atmosphere. Knowledge of safe work practices. Computer skills necessary to operate assigned maintenance systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Ability to lead and train a small group of employees. Multi-tasking and team orientation skills.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Work Conditions

Rotating shifts may be required.Able to work a 10-12-hour shift if needed, mostly on your feet. Maintenance and/or Operations experience within an industrial environment is desired, as positions may also assist other contractor employees. Office and field-based and with up to 5% by land and air required. The petroleum industry, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver-based environment include but are not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, electrical shock, and working in confined spaces. Periodic overtime is required. Required to respond to plant-related emergencies and be available after hours during critical business situations. Subject to all temperatures, weather, and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 200ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted) and strenuous physical activity.
