HDR is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Springfield, IL office. In the role of Environmental Scientist II, we'll count on you to work on a variety of energy and development projects in Illinois and elsewhere. The ideal candidate has used ArcPro Geographic Information Systems (GIS) extensively in their work and has prepared permit applications and compliance reports. You would collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting field surveys for threatened and endangered species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, and field investigations for wetlands, land use, and sensitive habitats. You would then assimilate and manage data, prepare constraints mapping, define the level of environmental analysis required, conduct environmental impact assessments, assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings, and assist public and private clients with permit coordination, land acquisition and compliance. You'll be expected to perform complex assignments, make independent decisions on problems and methods, be able to work independently on medium-size projects, as well as assist more-senior scientists and engineers on larger projects.

Candidate must be able to direct and mentor junior staff, manage tasks, and assist Project Managers and other senior level personnel. Task management responsibilities may include developing proposals and contract fees, managing scope, budget, schedule, and guiding less experienced staff to task completion. Position will require client and stakeholder meetings, site visits, field assessments, and construction inspection. Some periodic, out of state travel may be required.
