SUMMARY

The Center for Diversion and Services is pre-arrest diversion program that will help fill the gaps in resources for justice impacted individuals. Our target population will be individuals living with unmet Mental Health, Substance abuse, and poverty issues. The CDS will be a welcoming place for police to divert individuals that could, otherwise be charged with a low level crime. Staff at the center will engage the guests, assess their needs and help supply appropriate resources for each individual. There is a 40 person "living Room" and a 16 bed Sobering Center. Guest will stay up to 24 hours to receive connections to case management to help meet their unmet needs.

The Paramedic will be responsible for a brief medical screening at intake and observation of the 16 bed sobering unit. The Paramedic will be responsible for determining if someone needs a higher level of care and helping to facilitate the transfer by calling appropriate first responders.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Georgia Paramedic certification required.
  • Maintain current American Heart Association-Healthcare Provider Card for Basic Life Support (BLS) & ACLS
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Driver's License and maintain an acceptable MVR according to departmental standards once employed
  • Must be insurable by the departmental provider at the standard rate
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of basic & advanced life support protocols and principles as defined by national, state and regional standards



PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS



  • Expertise in substance abuse and mental health (SPMI), particularly within justice-involved and homeless/poverty-stricken populations.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Trauma-informed approach.
