Fire Systems Technician
Location: Atlanta, GA
Job Type: Full-time
Shift/Schedule: Variable (day, evening, night, and weekend shifts)

SUMMARY: The Fire Systems Technician maintains, repairs, and tests fire alarms, fire suppression, and support systems. Responsibilities include ensuring fire systems meet standards dictated by the State and Local Fire Marshals, the Joint Commission, and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire alarms, fire suppression systems, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of fire systems and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to fire system alarms and emergency calls to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Document all inspections, tests, and maintenance activities accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate with authorities and inspectors to ensure compliance with State and Local Fire Marshal, Joint Commission, and NFPA standards.


Day-to-Day Duties:



  • Conduct routine checks and inspections of fire alarm panels and detectors.
  • Test and calibrate fire suppression system components such as sprinklers and valves.
  • Maintain inventory of fire system spare parts and equipment.
  • Participate in fire drills and emergency response exercises.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure overall facility safety and compliance.


Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment with a skill level typically acquired through trade/vocational schools.
  • Level I Certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems.
