JOB SUMMARY Description Wound care technician is responsible for assisting the wound care clinicians and department in executing daily operations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Performs administrative and operational processes for the inpatient wound care/ostomy department. Performs bedside education for wound/ostomy care patients. Executes and facilitates excellent customer service to the departmental partners and patients Executes and facilitates excellent customer service to the departmental partners and patients. Performs education to patient, families and staff to promote optimal patient outcomes. Assists bedside nursing staff in the delivery of care and assuring the care is best practices. Collaborate with nursing teams and other healthcare teams to ensure patient satisfaction. Exhibits HRO Principles and communicates with team effectively. Other duties assigned. Performs rounding audits for pressure injury prevention, negative pressure and other departmental quality measures. Assist with scheduling of patients with the collaboration of the Charge Clinician and Advance Practitioner Ensure wound/ostomy care PAR levels are fulfilled. Procure and deliver supplies to the wound care team or outside departments. Assists with maintaining Joint Commission and CMS standards for the department. Performs chart reviews for wound/ostomy care patients to ensure plans of care are followed as determined by the Wound Care clinician. Participates in daily huddles and provides handoffs to clinicians for patient care needs. Performs simple wound and ostomy care interventions as directed by the supervising wound care clinician. Documents appropriately when wound/ostomy care interventions are performed. Education Required: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Associate Degree Experience Required: Less than one (1) year job related experience Preferred: One (1) or more year job related experience Skills/Certs/Licenses Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred: Medical Assistant Certified Wound Care Certificate |
