The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking outstanding applicants to fill a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) position in the Division of Medical Oncology.

The NP or PA will work with attending physicians based at our Keck Medicine of USC Pasadena and future Verdugo Hills location to provide oncology and hematology consultation and follow up services in outpatient settings and will help with infusion center coverage.

Common oncologic and hematologic diagnoses are breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynecology cancer, head and neck cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia and coagulopathy.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • see long term remission patients for routine check up and uncomplicated initial consult patients seen along with the attending physician.
  • complete comprehensive history and physical examination
  • ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies
  • initiation and adjustment of chemotherapy orders on behalf of or in collaboration with the physician, including the renewal of subsequent cycles of chemotherapy
  • consultation with specialist physicians and other team members regarding findings/changes in patient condition
  • documentation of patient care/procedures per policy
  • ensuring longitudinal communications with primary and referring providers regarding patient status
  • triage and respond to patient calls and emails regarding symptoms

Minimum Field of Expertise: Possession of current certificate of completion from a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Current and valid California State RN and Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant licenses, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. Oncology experience preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is $152,880-$215,300.. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
