Cardiovascular Tech II

St. Matthews area

Full Time/First Shift

Performs all aspects of Holter monitoring including equipment preparation and inventory, placing monitor on the patient, education, scanning, and billing. Also responsible for the procurement, placement, education, and follow up of cardiac event monitoring and cardiac monitoring by mobile telemetry. Will perform ECGs on occasion. Must maintain competency in cardiac rhythms and associated life-threatening arrhythmias. Must maintain current Basic Life Support/CPR certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Applies Holter monitor on patient and educates patient. Downloads and scans Holter monitor information, including completing the report and submitting to physician to interpret. There is a strong emphasis on the technical accuracy of the report. Facilitates proper medical record storage. Ensures proper documentation for billing purposes.

  • Maintains Holter equipment in proper working order. Maintains monitor inventory so that it meets patient demand.

  • Procures event monitors and MCOT monitors when ordered by physician. Places monitors and educates patient. Provides physician with reports and facilitates proper medical record storage. Provides proper documentation for billing purposes.

  • Performs ECGs as needed. Provides physician with tracing for interpretation. Facilitates proper medical record storage. Provides proper documentation for billing purposes.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Must attend and pass cardiac arrhythmia training class.

  • BCLS certification required within three months.
