Job Description: Summary: Barr is seeking an environmental engineer to undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites. Work may include managing multidisciplinary teams; preparing technical work plans and reports; investigating contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion; conducting remediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies; developing site management strategies, remedial design, and response action plans; and coordinating site remediation activities. The work may at times involve short-term out-of-town assignments. Responsibilities will also include development of proposals, scopes of work, and budgets; communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel; and overall project management. Responsibilities may also include staff mentoring, client relationship building, and business development. Other duties may include periodic on-site investigations of contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil gas; aquifer test performance and analysis; and construction observation. A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Grand Rapids or Ann Arbor, Michigan offices. NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.
