The Applied Performance Group (APG) Engineering team provides a strategic function at Snowflake, with direct impact to our product direction and bottom line. APG engineers are a key bridge between Engineering organizations and across sales, support, and services organizations. They are called upon to help with our most challenging customer performance issues as well as own strategic and competitive performance benchmarking.

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Engineering Manager to join and grow the team.


AS A SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER/DIRECTOR AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:

  • Lead a team of talented performance engineers to use the newest technologies at Snowflake to make our customers successful
  • Lead and participate in technical, design, and product discussions relating to the performance-critical areas of Snowflake
  • Develop the future leaders of Snowflake by providing continuous mentorship, coaching, and growth opportunities
  • Be comfortable delegating decisions for part of what's under your purview to others
  • Know how and when to shift resources across areas to balance the needs of Sales, Support, and Engineering teams that work with APG
  • Grow the team by recruiting and hiring new team members and growing existing ones
  • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision-making
  • Be an expert on the topics of Snowflake architecture, query processing, workload profiling, and Snowflake tools
  • Be an expert in competitor solutions/products for analytics, data engineering, HTAP, and OLTP
  • Represent Snowflake and act as performance sponsor for strategic customers.



OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • 10+ years of experience delivering Database, Data Warehouse, or Data Engineering implementations and/or benchmark initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams
  • Experience and ability to work directly with other engineering teams, product managers, and various levels of management
  • Strong communication skills, able to effectively communicate ideas and technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences
  • A track record of recruiting and leading technical teams in a demanding talent market
  • Strong problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills



BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with large-scale database technology
  • Multi-tenant systems, with a focus on reliability, performance and isolation
  • Experience growing and leading other managers

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $235,000 - $336,000.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
