PRN Athletic Trainer Certified

Job Description:

The Certified Athletic Trainer is a person who in the clinical setting assists with the implementation of specific therapy interventions under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Ensures provision of safe, competent services to all patients/residents in the following age groups within or outside of the hospital:

Pediatric (6 - 12 years)

Pediatric (2 months - 6 years)

Adult (18 - 64 years)

Adolescent (13 - 17 years)

Geriatric (65+ years)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He/she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

Clinical

Assist therapist with implementation of specific exercise program. Operate and instruct in use of rehab equipment. Apply therapeutic modalities as directed by therapist. Provide safe environment for patients and staff. Use appropriate documentation with co-signature of therapist. Fill out fee tickets. Help with daily cleaning and care of clinic.

Training Room

Evaluate athletic injuries. Implement treatment plan and rehab program. Apply therapeutic modalities and procedures. Provide on field emergency assessment and first aid. Fit standard protective equipment. Establish return to play guidelines. Assume responsibility for infection control. Participate in pre-season athletic screenings. Provide recommendations to coaches concerning environmental factors. Prescribe preventative conditioning programs.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience

  • Possess or be eligible for certification to practice athletic training in the state of Kentucky.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Have knowledge of disability and problems commonly encountered in the care of orthopedic and sports oriented patients.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with therapist.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills
  • BLS
