POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

$55.94 Hourly

Alutiiq Logistics and Maintenance Services, LLC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will perform maintenance and repairs on all equipment under the direct supervision of the Lead Engineer or Project Manager. This position will not include standing an Engineer's watch. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in HVAC systems, and the ability to follow detailed orders and instructions.

1. Preventive Maintenance:

o Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.

o Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as lubricating, cleaning, and replacing worn parts to prevent breakdowns.

2. Repairs and Troubleshooting:

o Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems with equipment.

o Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools.

o Test equipment to ensure proper functionality after repairs.

3. Installation and Upgrades:

o Assist in the installation of new machinery and equipment.

o Upgrade existing systems to improve efficiency and safety.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

o Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.

o Report any significant issues or concerns to the supervisor.

5. Safety and Compliance:

o Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.

o Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and industry standards.

6. HVAC Systems:

o Install, service, and repair environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments.

o Mount compressor and condenser units, fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts.

o Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, thread pipe, and join tubing or pipes to refrigerating units.

o Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and power sources.

o Install air and water filters, inject refrigerant, observe pressure and vacuum gauges, and adjust controls.

o Test joints and connections for gas leaks, wrap pipes in insulation, replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.

* Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and equipment, including HVAC systems.

* Skills:

o Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

o Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

o Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Must possess valid driver's license

* Must possess TS/SCI with ability to obtain Yankee White Security Clearance
