Job Description: $$ Sign on bonus up to $20,000 available $$ Full time 36 weekly hours, day shift About the Unit: The twenty-four-bed Neuroscience unit offers specialized nursing assessment and care to patients with both neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. Typical patients include those with a diagnosis of stroke, post-op craniotomy, post-op discectomy and other back surgeries, as well as post-cerebral embolization. Unit nursing care is complemented by the expertise of two Neuroscience Coordinators. New Graduate Nurses are welcome. Job Duties: The Neuro Spine Nurse assesses and identifies patient needs and implements appropriate interventions for the neuro patient. The Nurse establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently. Neuroscience nurses must have strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail in order to stay atop changing patient conditions. The neuro nurse acts as a family and patient resource to guide them through all stages of the patient's healthcare journey. Job Summary: Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned to his/her care regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) and is responsible for the patient's care consistent with the Kentucky Nursing Laws and organizational policies and procedures. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and the delivery of quality patient care and initiates change through active involvement in the unit-based and hospital shared governance councils while contributing to a healthy professional practice environment. National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for nurses as they utilize critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills and exercise appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse collaborates with the inter-professional team to enhance patient outcomes. The registered nurse serves as a role model through actively participating in the process of continuous professional development and lifelong learning. Utilizes the Nursing Process as the framework for providing care.
