UNCSA is a conservatory-style school and one of the 17 constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina system. The university community consists of more than 1,200 students ranging from middle school to graduate school. The school of Design & Production is one of the five collegiate level training programs (along with Drama, Dance, Music and Film). The school has 367 students, 32 full time faculty and 12 adjuncts. The Wig and Makeup Program has 3 full time faculty lines and 36 students currently enrolled in the graduate and undergraduate programs. Students work with the schools of Dance, Drama, Film and Music as well as campus and outside community events. |

School of Design & Production, Assistant or Associate Professor of Wig & Makeup |
Description of Responsibilities and Duties |
- Teach courses within the Wig & Makeup Program in the School of Design and Production
- Teach courses in beginner and advanced hair styling and wig-making
- Mentor and advise student students throughout the production process
- Serve as an academic advisor and engage in curriculum development
- Assist in the admissions process by interviewing students
- Continued professional activity within the entertainment industry
- Active participation in shared governance of the university community through service to the program, school, and institution
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Design & Production

Required Qualifications |
- Candidates are required to have a Bachelors degree.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the entertainment industry.
- Evidence of work that incorporates and supports diverse identities.
- Evidence of potential for a high quality of teaching.

Preferred Qualifications |
- A Masters of Fine Arts Degree or other terminal degree
- Experience in the classroom and/or mentoring and supporting the development of early career hair and makeup artists and technicians.
- Professional experience in the entertainment industry. Examples include, but are not limited to: professional or regional theatre, film, television, opera, tours, cruise ships, wig shops, or prosthetic shops.
- Desirable skill sets can include, but are not limited to: period and modern hair styling for all hair textures, ventilating, custom wig building, cage building, Cosmetology license, period and modern makeup application for stage and film, prosthetic makeup application, sculpting, mold making, digital or hand rendering.
