The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Turnaround (TA), Projects and Inspections Manager, this position plays a key role in managing refinery TAs and scheduled unit outages by planning, scheduling, and executing a vetted work list.

  • You will lead the core TA team, developing and executing a contracting strategy, estimating costs, leading the detailed planning process, optimizing the outage schedule, coordinating work with other refinery groups, manpower loading, managing TA materials, TA reporting, and leading the pre-TA, TA, and post-TA execution to ensure TA's and outages are safe and compliant.

Key activities include:

  • Select representatives and lead core team for outages and TA's in order to engage the refinery for success

  • Develop and execute a contracting strategy for each outage and TA including selection of contractors and ensuring appropriate travel and lodging arrangements

  • Identify, understand, and follow applicable safety, environmental, cost, schedule, and quality expectations

  • Estimate and track cost, cash flow, and manpower/resource loading for outages, TA's and work list items

  • Lead the process to develop detailed plans for each work list item including setting a planning standard, assigning work list items to planners (including you), planning work list items, tracking planning progress, reviewing plans, approving plans, and issuing work packages that contain detailed instructions for crafts to perform work including, but not limited to, drawings, schematics, P&ID, Safety Risk Matrix and/JSA, safety data sheet (SDS), Management of Change package, work or repair history, material list, and permits

  • Collaborate with other refinery groups (e.g. Inspection, Projects, Operations, Technical, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental, etc.) to ensure TA and outage plans are acceptable

  • Determine critical path and optimize outage and TA schedules to the extent needed using SAP planning tools, Microsoft Projects, Primavera and/or other tools

  • Manage TA and outage materials by ensuring we specify what we need, receiving material from our warehouse, kitting, tracking, and issuing material for work packages, and inventorying remaining materials

  • Develop org charts to execute TA and outage work

  • Lead the execution of pre-TA work, TA work, and post-TA work including monitoring progress and resource usage for adherence to plan during execution. Coordinate with management on issues impacting TA activities such as resource adjustments, work schedules, and critical paths. Recommend corrective actions to increase productivity and reduce costs while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental procedures.

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of turnaround safety, schedule, cost, and other performance metrics.

  • Maintain TA documentation.

  • Actively pursue TA improvement opportunities

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Qualifications for this role:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 10+ years petrochemical maintenance planning and/or craft maintenance supervision

  • Successful experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite to include Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

  • Experience working with Microsoft Project, SAP, Primavera, and TA software desired

  • Experience working across functions through communication and collaboration

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License with acceptable Driver's Abstract.

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $110,000 to $137,000, plus non-discretionary bonus.The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
