Role Overview: New York Life's Group Membership Association Division (GMAD) seeks an experienced underwriting manager to help launch a new business within GMAD. This position will lead the underwriting for Special Risk policies including participant, volunteer, and occupational accident as well as Business Travel Accident (BTA). Extensive knowledge of Special Risk / BTA coverages, pricing & tabular rating is required. This individual will work closely with other departments to maximize growth and competitiveness in the Special Risk / BTA markets while maintaining profit targets. Collaboration with other departments will include Distribution, Actuarial, Finance, Strategy & Analytics and Operations. This individual will build and manage a small team of experienced underwriters focused on this area. The GMAD divisional president will interact directly with Special Risk / BTA underwriting on a regular basis to ensure there is support need to reach our growth and profit objectives. This CVP, Underwriting Manager for Special Risk / BTA will also work directly with brokers on new business and renewal underwriting. This includes both MGU programs and individual case underwriting. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
