STV is seeking an experienced and motivated National Director of Wastewater Treatment position will foster technical area expertise, provide focus on and research on technology and best practices within a technical area, and contribute to completion of projects on schedule, within budget, and consistent with published company policy. The goal of this position is to build a world-class wastewater treatment team for STV that competes and wins across the United States and other strategic targets offshore identified in the current, and future, strategic plans. STV is currently conducting numerous projects while working at approximately 20 wastewater treatment plants with the goal to rapidly expand the presence, project types and value at these and many other facilities for marquee clients in the industry.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position will be part of the National Water Practice Leadership Team and reports to the Water Operating Group President. Other Wastewater Treatment positions such as technical process leads or other specialized technical resources supporting wastewater treatment applications may also report to this role.

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:

This position requires strong technical leadership ability along with a keen understanding of the U.S. and Global Wastewater Treatment Market and Resource Recovery Market. This individual shall be goal oriented, take charge, and lead as well as support strategic initiatives for building and growing the wastewater treatment capabilities within the firm. He or she will understand client needs, and be interested in researching, developing, and applying new technologies. This position requires occasional periods of intense concentration, as well as average strength and stamina. This position is within a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc., and requires occasional travel up to 35% of the time with some periods of higher travel if warranted.

THE POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

Operational

  • Provide a global perspective of wastewater treatment technologies utilized or considered to be utilized in the U.S.
  • Compile and document research on innovative wastewater treatment systems, methods, and technology to the National Water Practice.
  • Under the direction of the Water Operating Group Leadership, develop and implement plans to apply innovations and new or emerging technologies to projects.
  • Serve as a national and industry recognized subject matter expert and provide guidance and insight related to all areas of wastewater treatment with specific focus on biological nutrient removal systems, process modeling using Biowin, treatment system CFD, state point analysis, etc.
  • While not designated as a designer, the effective and efficient design of industry best practices and solutions for design should be well established with this role.
  • Mentor/coach/train selected staff in area of expertise.
  • Provide high level technical input on projects and assigned initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations for standards and protocols to support efficient delivery of work.
  • Support the National Water Practice Leadership with information and feedback regarding project progress, client satisfaction and technical delivery issues.
  • Collaborate with staff on special projects and assignments as a dedicated SME or in a Technical Advisor or QA/QC lead or supporting role on wastewater treatment projects.
  • Track and oversee all wastewater treatment projects with specific focus given to those projects with increased complexity, strategic teaming, or projects / clients that are high profile in nature.
  • Build a technical team of SMEs, senior staff, mid-level staff, and young professionals to strengthen the capacity and technical proficiencies of the firm's wastewater treatment team to world-class recognition in the industry.
Business Development / Sales Support / Brand Management
  • Provide technical input/support on sales calls, proposal development and presentations.
  • Support the PL with the assessment and development of resources to enhance the technical capability of the practice.
  • Participate in associations within their technical area and maintain leadership and/or committee positions.
  • Lead the development of targeted thought leadership content for wastewater treatment related topics for technical publications and make presentations at conferences annually or see that the firm establishes and meets annual goals to increase visibility at national and international wastewater treatment conferences.
  • Grow the internal and external brand of the firm in wastewater treatment through its enhanced process capabilities and expanded visibility in the industry.
  • Elevate the firm's standing as a preeminent wastewater treatment firm.
  • Gain effective understanding of the firm's wastewater treatment history (i.e., clients, treatment plants, project summaries, etc) to draw upon for future pursuit efforts.
  • Track current and targeted wastewater treatment pursuits. Work with the National Water Practice Leadership to identify and develop winning pursuit plans based on building effective "win strategies" and technical approaches that align the firm with industry best approaches, practices, and procedures for the planning, analysis, evaluation, and design of award-winning wastewater treatment focused projects.
  • Maintain current client bases with client engagement, routine touch points, and networking to become a trusted advisor for the firm with our current and future clients.
  • Give focus and attention to elevating R&D opportunities within the firm and increase the firm's presence in the innovation and technology space.
Corporate
  • Provide technical input on training, equipment, and software.
  • Research and provide recommendations for most current technical resource needs including software and skills.
  • Organize, schedule, participate and/or host brown bag seminars for in-house staff and/or key clients either in-person or virtual.
  • Review technical paper requests, abstracts, and papers.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
PREREQUISITES:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's and Master's Degree in area of practice.
  • Professional Engineering license.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience.
