OVERVIEW

Our Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing the processes and equipment involved in the manufacturing and distribution process. Their duties include researching automation techniques, designing distribution center flow, testing new systems for efficiency and planning factory layouts to optimize production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Review and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support functional teams in the DMS countermeasures and initiatives
  • This position requires that the employee have a good understanding of the principles of the TPS/ Lean system and a working knowledge of the manufacturing floor. These principles include the ability to:

    • Perform time studies
    • Process flow and value stream layouts (with recommendations of Industrial improvements)
    • Directly works with Management & Production Staffing to evaluate each operation for efficiency and improvements.
    • Run kaizen Continuous Improvement [website] sessions
    • Perform "Lean Assessment", 5-S, TPS, Culture audits and events
    • Work with other plant personnel to establish cost savings initiatives
    • Train salaried and hourly employees in the implementation of Lean principles and practices




TECHNICAL SKILLS



  • Education and/or Experience: A Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations: A valid driver's license.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and business information and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Applications Skills: SAP MRP, Ability to work in a Windows environment, to work with your department's business applications and with standard current computer applications. Proficient in MS Access and Excel
