About the Department |
North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine (
CVM) is a dynamic community dedicated to developing veterinarians and veterinary scientists through advancing animal and human health from cellular through ecosystem levels. With the graduation of its first class in 1985, the
CVM is one of the younger veterinary programs in the country. Despite its relative youth, the College has gained international recognition on the strength of its teaching, research, engagement, and patient care efforts and is highly ranked among the nation's colleges of veterinary medicine. Located on 180 acres near downtown Raleigh, the College encompasses 20 buildings on the main Centennial Biomedical Campus. In addition to the four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, the College offers Masters and Doctoral degrees. Faculty and students work across disciplines, employing cutting edge technologies in both basic and applied research in human and veterinary medicine.
The mission of the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences: We are dedicated to training doctors of veterinary medicine, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows interested in research-based careers focused on discovering new information about animal and human health and well-being. The Radiology department is excited about the prospects of furthering the development of imaging at
NCSU.
Diagnostic imaging in the NC State Veterinary Hospital is extremely well equipped with six Canon digital radiographic systems (four small animal, two equine), a digital RF room, a catheterization lab, two Canon Aplio i700 and one Canon Aplio i500 ultrasound machines for small animal imaging, a Mylab 70
XVG for equine orthopedics and assorted portable equine ultrasound machines, an MiE equine/small animal nuclear medicine suite, 64 slice small animal Siemens CT machine and mobile Samsung BodyTom for equine imaging (including standing scan ability), and a 3.0T Siemens Skyra
MRI suite configured for small animal and equine MR imaging. A fully integrated web-based Radiology Information System (Empiric Systems/Fuji) and
PACS (Merge) allows for easy report generation and image distribution throughout the College. The
RIS and
PACS are readily accessible offsite and via iOS devices.
The candidate would be joining four other full-time radiologists, five radiology residents, a radiology specialty intern, a research technologist and eight clinical technicians and support staff. The radiology department is a congenial, team-oriented group which is excited about the prospects of furthering the development of imaging at
NCSU in collaboration with the talents and ideas of a new faculty member. The NC State Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful workplace with enthusiastic students, technologists and other faculty specialists who work together to provide exceptional veterinary medical care while advancing the standard of veterinary care through research. |
