Essential Job Duties
The Program Associate is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of agriculture-based educational programs targeted at youth. This role focuses on fostering an interest in agriculture, promoting sustainable practices, and providing hands-on learning experiences. The Program Associate will work closely with Extension Agents, community organizations, volunteers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality programming that meets the needs of the community.

1 - Program Development and Implementation

  • Design, develop, and implement agriculture-based educational programs for youth.
  • Create curriculum and lesson plans that align with educational standards and promote agricultural literacy.
  • Organize and lead workshops, field trips, and hands-on activities in various agricultural settings.


2 - Community Engagement and Partnership Building:

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and agricultural entities.
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and community partners to promote program awareness and participation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify community needs and opportunities for program growth.

3 - Program Evaluation and Reporting

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth agriculture programs.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess program outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges.

4 - Resource Management

  • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Source and manage materials and resources needed for program activities.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships, to support program sustainability.

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, education, youth development OR a related field
Department Required Skills

  • Must have knowledge and experience in horticulture, agronomy, soils, ag education, education)
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in program development and implementation, preferably in agriculture or education setting
  • Must be willing to work irregular and late hours
  • Must have experience working with diverse audiences

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Understand the development needs of youth
  • Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner and demonstrate knowledge and skills in program area
  • At least 2 years working with youth using positive youth development principles
