About the Department
The mission of the Risk Assessment (RA) unit is to identify, de-escalate, and decrease violent activity and its possible adverse effects upon students, faculty, staff, and university community. RA staff work with a variety of university partners to address behaviors of concern that include threatening communications directed towards one's self or others, threatening behaviors, physical violence, stalking or unwanted pursuit, domestic or interpersonal violence, sexual violence, or other activities that violate the university's Campus/Workplace Violence Regulation.
This unit facilitates the university Behavior Assessment Team ( BAT) in its mission to ensure that effective intervention and management is provided in situations that pose, or potentially pose, a threat to the safety of the campus community. The primary goal is to work effectively with community partners to prevent violence so that the university may remain a safe environment to work and learn.
Safety is a community responsibility and having an informed and knowledgeable campus community is a critical component to the mission of the RA Unit. This office offers multiple training and educational opportunities in addition to providing instructional
information on workplace violence prevention, reporting responsibilities, resources, and how to assist. Training participation is strongly encouraged on campus, required in some instances, and significantly contributes to the overall success of fulfilling the unit's mission.

Risk Assessment is comprised of Youth Programs and Compliance and Violence Prevention & Threat Management.
Essential Job Duties
Risk Assessment Support Specialist supports the Department of Risk Assessment offices, in particular Violence Prevention and Threat Management ( VPTM) and Youth Programs & Compliance ( YPC). In this role, you will support critical case management, analyze and report on key data, collaborate on youth program compliance, and manage essential communication channels. Your efforts will ensure the effective coordination of risk assessment initiatives, enhancing safety and operational efficiency across the department.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Communication & Case Management:

  • Manage the VPTM email and respond to inquiries.
  • Submit concerning behavior referrals, create cases, and route them to BAT or CARES for case management
  • Develop, run, and analyze reports in Maxient for tracking demographics and preparing weekly BAT meeting reports.
  • Document BAT meetings and input minutes/notes within the electronic database.


Data Handling & Reporting:

  • Handle and maintain FERPA-protected and personnel privacy data.
  • Compile, reconcile, and manipulate statistics for tracking and reporting purposes.

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Collaborate with YPC in youth program observation, case management in Maxient, and documentation updates.
  • Assist in managing, training, and supervising a student worker.
  • Review University checks per REG 01.25.18 and ensure appropriate endorsements.

Digital & Communication Management:

  • Maintain the departmental website and social media page.
  • Create and distribute monthly newsletters for VPTM and YPC.
  • Support in reviewing and updating standard operating procedures for Youth Programs and Compliance, Violence Prevention, and Threat Management.

Administrative Support:

  • Serve as the building liaison for Broughton Hall, managing work orders and assisting with departmental needs.
  • Manage the departmental purchasing card, process purchase requests and travel authorizations, and reconcile expenditures.
  • Track and review the departmental budget regularly with the Director of Risk Assessment.

Event & Calendar Coordination:

  • Coordinate and maintain calendars for BAT meetings, training, and departmental events.
  • Organize travel arrangements for staff and potential candidates.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Ability to handle high volumes of work with an excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize daily duties.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to draft and proofread.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve productively and collaboratively as a team member, while also being able to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Google.
  • Working knowledge of or an interest in learning Wordpress.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, working professionally and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated exemplary work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous related office experience in higher education or in a clinical setting, including software database experience such as Maxient, Mailchimp or something similar.
  • Experience in crisis services and social work settings, particularly in handling trauma and violence reports
