The Support Specialist in this position will provide support to the Extension staff as assigned.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and educational events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.

While largely rural, Davie County has a growing suburban population attracted to the county's low cost of living, top-rated school system, state-of-the-art medical facilities, and excellent quality of life. Davie County offers convenient access to interstates I-40, I-77, and I-85; major cities, such as Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte; and the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. Other Work/Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
The Support Specialist in this position will provide support to the Extension staff as assigned.

The Support Specialist is a member of the staff of North Carolina Cooperative Extension ( NCCE).

The Support Specialist cooperates with colleagues in NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibilities is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of NCCE.
Responsibilities include providing support for county Extension staff and other functions in the office including:

  • Provide excellent customer service to call-in and walk-in clients;
  • Assist with electronic and physical file management;
  • Review/screen mail, process outgoing mail, and coordinate mass mailings;
  • Maintain and update office website and social media accounts;
  • Coordinate registrations for programs using Eventbrite and other platforms as needed;
  • Assists Agents and volunteers with special and recurring projects, promotional events, and related marketing efforts;
  • Oversees program and office supplies, general maintenance of the building as assigned, and inventories;
  • Cross-train on office financial system and processes with the Administrative Assistant to include but not be limited to making deposits, processing invoices, and completing assignments in Munis;
  • Work is done in the time allowed with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, some evenings and weekends as required
Minimum Experience/Education
Graduation from high school and two years office assistance and secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Strong decision-making, analytical, and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and have strong customer service skills;
  • Ability to work with a broad clientele.


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • The candidate should be detail-oriented and self-motivated and should be willing to complete assigned University training to advance in the position.
  • At least two years of related office experience.
  • Previous experience with delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Experience in web page management, desktop publishing, newsletter design and preparation is preferred.
