Position Description

The Plant Controller will report to the U.S. Country Controller and is responsible for overseeing certain U.S. accounting functions. It is primarily responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities and related analytical support in compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations. This individual will provide accounting oversight and leadership associated with manufacturing facilities in Lawrenceburg, TN. This position will also be part of the broader U.S. accounting team and also be responsible for regional oversight of certain accounting processes.

This position will supervise 3-4 employees with general accounting responsibilities and will be tasked with streamlining key activities and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide development opportunities to an accounting staff while utilizing performance based metrics to measure achievement to defined objectives
  • Perform accounting functions and ensure adequate control over all transaction flows (invoicing, fixed assets, and general ledger) and reporting methods. Analyze and implement best practices to strengthen internal controls
  • Responsible for certain month-end and year-end closing activities including:
  • Review and approve journal entries prepared by staff
  • Complete the monthly financial close within SAP
  • Review and approve requests for capital expenditures. Reconcile construction in progress at month-end
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations
  • Complete quarterly assessment of low margin products and review excess & slow-moving inventory for reserve consideration
  • Complete semi-annual impairment review of fixed assets
  • Implement, maintain, and manage regional accounting and reporting processes. Manage cost center / responsibility reporting
  • Generate financial information in accordance with corporate policy and GAAP requirements. Responsible for site income statements and balance sheets
  • Interface with internal and external auditors on quarterly reviews and year-end audit
  • Continually work on strengthening the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and consistency. Implement efficiencies to shorten the cycle
  • Drive process and system improvements related to financial operations, internal controls, and reporting. Focus on improving the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of the information and services provided
  • Organize and coordinate each plant's annual physical inventory. Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external audit support
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with plant staff, segment management, and other key business leaders
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing accounting, costing, or financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and advanced Excel skills are a must
  • Strong system skills including knowledge of a fully integrated ERP system. Previous use and knowledge of SAP and/or Hyperion is a plus
  • Must be able to be flexible and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Disciplined self-starter with excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Must be a clear and concise communicator with an ability to work well under pressure
