Overview

The medicinal chemistry team within the Center for Drug Discovery supports client needs by conducting hit-to-lead and lead optimization. We integrate medicinal chemistry into larger projects focused on drug discovery and development, including computational chemistry, in vitro assay development and HTS screening, in vivo behavioral pharmacology, ADME/PK bioanalytics, and regulatory support.

We have an immediate need for a Medicinal Chemist to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding team. We are on the lookout for a highly motivated and organized individual who is eager to dive into the synthesis of monomers, building blocks, peptides, and oligonucleotides. In this exciting role, candidate will create innovative ligands targeting a range of biological challenges, including kinases, G protein-coupled receptors, ion channels, and antimicrobial agents.

This position is a two-year term assignment with potential for annual renewal.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with experimental design.
  • Perform compound synthesis independently or as a member of a team.
  • Ensure proper execution of studies and record-keeping.
  • Perform data analyses and prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Attend conferences to present novel research findings.
  • Assist with grant applications and laboratory management.
  • Train junior investigators and technicians as needed.
  • Review literature and patents to retrieve scientific information.
  • Other duties as assigned by PI.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in synthetic or medicinal chemistry or a related discipline field of study.
  • Proven expertise in solid-phase peptide and oligonucleotide synthesis.
  • Well-demonstrated and extensive experience with a variety of chemical reactions.
  • Proficiency in utilizing RP-HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, and chiral separation techniques.
  • Highly desirable to have experience in cell cultures and/or biological assays.
  • Desirable to possess knowledge of basic computational techniques.
  • Adept at working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in English.
