Poole College of Management has four academic departments: Accounting, Business Management, Economics, and Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. We offer bachelor's degrees in accounting, business administration, and economics; master's degrees in accounting, business administration ( MBA), economics, and management (including specialized degrees); as well as a doctoral degree in economics. Among our non-degree programs, we offer Executive Education and graduate certificates.
The college houses six initiatives fostering research, learning, and corporate engagement: Business Analytics Initiative, Business Sustainability Collaborative, Enterprise Risk Management Initiative, Entrepreneurship Clinic, Entrepreneurship Collaborative, and Supply Chain Resource Cooperative. The college is fully accredited by the AACSB.
The Department of Business Management in the Poole College of Management is highly interdisciplinary with faculty specializing in the areas of analytics, information technology, marketing, finance, and supply chain management. Academic courses are offered at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Business Analytics Initiative ( BAI), housed in the Poole College of Management, serves as the hub for all of our business analytics activities including world-class business education and research as well as global thought leadership. We collaborate closely with cross-college partners, including the university's Data Science Academy.
Essential Job Duties
The Department of Business Management in the Poole College of Management of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track position at the open-rank assistant/associate professor in the field of Information Technology / Information Systems and Business Analytics.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach IT/Analytics courses at the graduate ( MBA) and undergraduate levels, both online and in-person, covering subjects such as data engineering, database management, and artificial intelligence. Responsibilities include maintaining a successful research agenda that produces publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, and providing service to the department, college, and university.

The candidate must be an effective teacher at both graduate and undergraduate levels and is expected to maintain an active research agenda in IT/Analytics, commensurate with our status as a Research 1 university. Appointment expected to begin on August 16, 2025.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department head. Candidates must be a contributing faculty member to department and college service activities.
Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Candidates must currently hold a Ph.D., or have completed the requirements for the degree by July 1, 2025, in Information Technology, Information Systems, Analytics or a closely related field.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates should possess strong records in research, teaching, and service, or have the potential to achieve the same.
  • Demonstrate strong scholarly research capabilities consistent with a Research 1 university and an ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Established research record and evidence of high-quality teaching.
