Ag & Resource Economics |
About the Department |
Agriculture in today's world is a business, whether it be processing and marketing agricultural products, farming, or supplying agricultural inputs. Consumers face a variety of choices that are impacted by policies and regulations, by micro and macro conditions affecting them, and by their individual circumstances and welfare. The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics addresses important issues regarding the management of agricultural and related businesses, the functioning of agricultural markets, the protection and use of resources, the performance of government policies affecting agricultural and related industries, and the impacts of decisions made by consumers with respect to the purchase of food and fiber products.
ARE offers undergraduate major and minor programs in agricultural business management and a concentration in biological sciences business management within the agricultural business management program. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science degree in agricultural economics, and a Ph.D. degree in economics. These instructional programs are enriched by faculty members with extension and research activities which contribute to the relevance and thoroughness of the teaching program. |
Essential Job Duties |

- Manage and process travel authorizations and reimbursements for all departmental travel (employees and non-employees).
- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing collections, and financial reporting in accordance with the college and university business processes and policies.
- Manage the department's financial business functions such as journal vouchers, purchase orders, interdepartmental sales journals, interdepartmental journal, and interdepartmental transfers.

Other Responsibilities |
While driving a vehicle is not an essential function of this position, we believe it is necessary to have a valid NC driver's license to perform the essential functions of the job. This position will need to travel off-site on occasion, alone and must independently be able to travel from location to location without reliance on others or the advanced notice that is often required of alternative means of transportation. Due to limitations in funding, the College cannot afford the high costs that would be required in attaining the services of transportation services such as taxis or car services. Should a viable candidate be identified from the recruitment without a license, which we believe to be necessary, we will engage your office and
OIED in considering potential alternative solutions that may emerge from a request for a reasonable accommodation. |
