$20-$32/hourly

Job Purpose

Set up, adjust, and maintain equipment to facilitate the highest possible production quality

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment. Plan for and take corrective action when problems occur
  • Review production schedule to organize regular maintenance
  • Ensure machine productivity and quality after repairs, changeovers, and extended down time
  • Assist in clearing machine jams
  • Test equipment to verify proper working order
  • Perform quality checks using gauges, instruments and proper forms. Check finished product for visual defects
  • Check and inspect assigned equipment during preventative maintenance. Reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action
  • Examine defects and spoilage for possible causes and take appropriate action when possible
  • Analysis of production delays. Summarize causes on daily production report
  • Direct line operators, packers, and service personnel, such as lift truck operators, in details of daily schedule, standard operating procedures and requirements
  • Notify maintenance supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, if applicable
  • Notify maintenance supervisor of quality issues and supply needs
  • Instruct and/or direct any maintenance trainees assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, use and understand gauges, tools and instruments relating to product quality and equipment repair
  • High mental and visual effort required
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including, but not limited to: Addition, Subtraction, Division, and Multiplication
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively use hand tools and trade type tools
  • High sense of urgency
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of three-year formal training program

Experience

  • Satisfactory work record, as determined by plant training committee
  • 1-3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
