Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (College) invites applications for the chief of the Division of Urogynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This is an opportunity for an outstanding leader with a national/international reputation as a respected and accomplished academician, clinician, educator and collaborator. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) is experiencing a period of clinical and academic growth under the leadership of Dr. Rosanne Kho, a recognized leader in gynecologic surgery and clinical investigation. The department currently hosts 36 residents, 3 maternal fetal medicine fellows, 2 minimally invasive gynecologic surgery fellows and 1 addiction medicine fellow. Faculty provide clinical services and mentor trainees at the Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix (Banner - University Phoenix), the new Arcadia Clinic and other Banner facilities. Mirroring the growth in population in the Phoenix metropolitan area, the department is experiencing rapid extension of the clinical enterprise with year-over-year increases of surgical volume, clinic visit volumes and hospital deliveries. The labor and delivery and maternity units are housed within the medical center located within central Phoenix. It is attended by over 100 obstetrics and gynecology specialists and subspecialists who provide routine and high-risk obstetrical care for over 7000 deliveries annually. In addition, the sections of benign gynecology, MIGS, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Ob Hospitalists and Ob Gyn specialists have been established in the department and are a major referral source for complex obstetrical and benign gynecologic conditions in the valley. This position reports directly to the chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology within the College of Medicine - Phoenix for all academic activities. Consistent with the Academic Affiliation Agreement (AAA) between the University of Arizona and Banner Health, the division chief will have a matrix reporting relationship to the CEO of Banner - University Medical Group (B-UMG) and CEO of Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix (B-UMCP) for all clinical activities conducted at B-UMCP. The successful candidate will be an accomplished physician leader in the field, one with a track record of publications and funding in basic science and/or clinical research. As chief, this person will work alongside the chair for all planning, policy, operations and oversight of academic, research and clinical programs of the division. The chief will have discretion in the recruitment and retention of division faculty who will have a direct reporting line to the chief of the Division of Urogynecology. The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, actively participate in teaching, clinical service and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. The successful candidate will meet the requirements of either a career track or tenure track faculty according to the College and University guidelines. Minimum Qualifications |
- Hold
an MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution. - Be
board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a subspecialty in Urogynecology. - Be
eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona. - Be
eligible for medical staff membership at B-UMCP. - Have
an emerging or established track record of research as demonstrated through funded research and a developing research portfolio. - Demonstrated
track record of national distinction in teaching, clinical care and research discovery in an academic department or comparable environment. - Be
a recognized physician leader in the field with strong communication skills. - Exhibit
national distinction through service on national committees or similar professional societies.

Preferred Qualifications |
* Hold an additional health profession degree (e.g., PhD, MPH, MS, etc.). * Have greater than 3 years of progressively complex administrative experience (e.g., program leader, center/section director, etc.) in an academic medical center setting. * Show experience in the development and successful implementation of new academic programs and services. * Demonstrate outstanding leadership in at an academic department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. |
