Position Highlights

The Nurse Anesthesiology Program Coordinator serves as a strong role model in professionalism to support the mission and vision of the College of Nursing (CON). They will assist program leadership by planning, securing, organizing, maintaining, and facilitating educational experiences, program outcomes, and business development efforts.

The program coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities and functions of the nurse anesthesiology program in conjunction with the program administrator to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations, and other specifications. They oversee daily operations and program activities, setting priorities with the program administrator.

The Nurse Anesthesiology Program Coordinator is responsible for cultivating, and continuously building relationships with clinical affiliates to ensure adequate capacity for quality clinical education. The coordinator works with clinical site coordinators and credentialing offices in collaboration with the program administrator and faculty.

Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Site/Student Relationships

  • Assist with program interview scheduling and ensure onboarding and documentation are complete.
  • Manage the student experience related to clinical placement.
  • Facilitate matching of student to preceptor/site based on specialty & geographic location.
  • Ensure correct on-boarding and credentialing of students prior to starting a clinical rotation.
  • Assists in maintaining clinical placement data systems, including data retrieval and reporting.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain positive relationships with new and existing clinical sites.
  • Identify and relay any concerns related to clinical experiences to program leadership to facilitate prompt resolution.
  • Provide conflict resolution in situations where there are discrepancies between the goals/objectives of the clinical placement site and the College of Nursing.
  • Assist the program administrator with clinical site evaluation summaries, data collection for accrediting annual reports and grant reports. preparation and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Track potential clinical site affiliation documents and submit accrediting body applications.
  • Schedule meetings for faculty and residents.

Data Management

  • Stay appraised of health systems so that contracts can be updated as facility names change and/or as mergers occur.
  • Provide clinical facility information updates to students, faculty, and CON leadership.
  • Identify the number of clinical placements needed each semester for the program and clinical area in accordance with the curriculum and expected enrollment.
  • Enter and revise placement requests in program online calendar(s) for efficient communications.
  • Develop and implement policies and plans related to clinical placements and timelines for program directors and course chairs.
  • Direct process for submitting required reports to all affiliating clinical agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned, based on applicant education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Customer-service skills that supports student and faculty needs in the context of existing policies and processes.
  • The ability to work independently on projects and produce exemplary work on projects is required.
  • Detail orientation as the position requires collection, assimilation and ability to report data for accreditation and grant reports.
  • Ability to independently collect, organize, and maintain documents and databases for clinical placements, clinical site visit reports, and clinical coordinators as required by accreditation agency.
  • Expertise preparing reports, records program activities, progress, status or other special reports.
  • Knowledge of evaluation to assess program effectiveness to develop improved methods.
  • Competencies that demonstrate maximizing technology to identify, devise, and implement the most efficient and effective methods of processing required programmatic needs.
  • Receptive to mentoring, feedback and coaching.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with budget preparation and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Computer proficiency in internet applications and Office Suite Productivity products (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Polling).
  • Expertise with HRSA grants management.
  • Flexible and adaptable, perform multiple activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Adept at managing details, prioritizing, tracking multiple projects and meticulous follow up on pending responses and deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or related field.
  • Experience with Nurse Anesthesiology programs
  • Experience working with accreditors or clinical agencies
