The Construction & Manufacturing Team supports all of Haskell's delivery groups across the company and the projects throughout the United States. The Construction & Manufacturing Team is responsible for providing the field management personnel, from the craft worker to the Project Superintendent. The Construction & Manufacturing Team also provides the team member with logistical support; including but not limited to establishing per diem rates, company trucks for superintendents, and the coordination of arrival for team members as needed on the project. The Construction & Manufacturing Team provides continual training for our team members to support their development from entry-level craft workers, via in-house/online courses, to local jurisdiction apprenticeship programs. Haskell assists with working your way up through the ranks, you'll find new ways to use both your mind and your hands to get the job done.

In this role, you will supervise assigned construction projects and obtain successful cost results with respect to labor and equipment utilization.

Your responsibilities will include:

    Pre-plans and schedules jobsite activity as required. Produces and updates a weekly 4-week short interval schedule (integrated with the overall project schedule). Oversees field office files
  • Plans and develops construction techniques and methods, materials handling, crew sizes and deployment, equipment requirements, and task sequences
  • Recruits and coordinates training for all hourly jobsite personnel. Assists in applicable jobsite training of onsite Assistant Project Managers and Assistant Superintendents
  • Manages requirements of the NPDES. Posts required documentation in compliance with national, state, and local labor laws. Administers company policies and procedures fairly and consistently
  • Prepares Daily Report and communicates project activity to management (Project Manager and Director of Construction).
  • Purchases miscellaneous materials and requisitions equipment. Receives and maintains purchased materials and rented equipment
  • Reports, verifies, and documents to management extra work requested by the owner, or occasioned by job conditions, which are beyond the original estimate or contract documents
  • Responsible for the layout of accurate lines and grades for all work. Reviews project submittals. Checks and verifies dimensions within the design drawings, and as related to shop drawings
  • Verifies valid/current insurance of all on-site companies
  • Inspects for quality of both company-performed work and subcontractors' work and for compliance with engineered drawings. Resolves quality assurance deficiencies
  • Prepares Labor Cost Report. Processes daily vendors' and subcontractors' invoices and delivery tickets. Conducts weekly subcontractor progress meetings
  • Initiates all jobsite safety and accident prevention efforts. Investigates and reports all accidents. Holds weekly safety meetings and inspections for submission. Conducts new-hire safety orientation utilizing The Haskell Company code of safe practices
  • Acts as on-site security representative for Haskell
  • Maintains good community relations and clearly identifies jobsite by well-placed and maintained company signs per Haskell signage standards
  • Complies with contract specifications, POs, SCs, and permitting agencies for required inspections. Generates RFIs and applicable project correspondence
  • Assumes budget responsibility for labor costs, including subsistence and expenses, and miscellaneous purchases, such as concrete, lumber, equipment rental, and overhead

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • High school diploma with five years of applicable construction experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a construction environment or 4-yr degree in Building Construction or a related field of study may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for applicable construction experience
  • Must have excellent organization and verbal communication skills; attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter and someone who delivers results
  • Must be able to provide effective verbal and written instructions; must be able to assimilate and share highly technical information
  • Must possess excellent leadership and management skills
  • Must be able to collaborate with others to accomplish organizational goals, identify and resolve problems
  • Actions must demonstrate consideration for others - participatory leadership and active involvement with TEAM
  • Must be customer-focused - internal and external
  • Must hold First Aid and CPR certification
  • Minimum of OSHA 10-Hour certification
  • Must be able to understand and execute the company vision and values of Team, Excellence, Service, and Trust

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
