Description

  • Performs the installation, maintenance, and testing programs for the organization and member cooperatives' protection systems, meters, or communication systems.
  • Ensures compliance with the organization's prescribed System Maintenance, Reliability, and Testing Program and all areas of NERC Compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Reads substation data, collects and logs data, visually inspects equipment at each substation, and reports problems.
  • Maintains and uses test equipment and tools used for construction, operations, and maintenance of protection system maintenance, meters, and communications equipment.
  • Performs the inspection, installation, use, and maintenance of mobile substations located within a district or region.
  • Instructs and trains technician helpers on technical, operational, and safety standards.
  • Participates in safety meetings on a monthly basis, including technical topics.
  • Advises other personnel and member cooperative's personnel, upon request, of facts relating to this area of responsibility and assists them in the performance of their duties in times of need.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision on assigned projects, including logging and maintaining documents suitable for NERC compliance.
  • Successful completion of prescribed NLC course lessons in the Power Delivery Department training program or other prescribed training program as required.
  • Performs directed switching with written switching orders.
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
  • Participates on Safety Advantage Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs inspection of substations and transmission lines during prescribed inspection intervals.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED with Specialized training, plus 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Class D driver's license required.


REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  • Valid Class A CDL Drivers license is required with a safe driving record
  • Must pass job related skills test to be considered for this position.



PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Associate degree in Electronics, Civil/Electrical Engineering Technology, Formal training and/or Certification in Circuit Breaker, Power Transformer, and/or Transmission Line Maintenance and Testing. Industrial Certification in Hydraulics Management, oil-filled equipment or other large industrial machinery would be preferred. Mobile Crane Operator Certification. Training and Certification in Doble, Megger, Dilo, and similar test equipment. Journeyman Electrician License, Industrial Electrician, or Master Electrician License.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Position requires overnight travel throughout the state of Arkansas and Oklahoma and response when required during irregular work hours. In pursuant of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes. Successful completion of prescribed NLC course lessons in Power Delivery Department training program or other prescribed training program as required.

As a condition of employment, this position requires a post-offer pre-employment drug test and requires passing a DOT physical.
