Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products Division is seeking qualified professionals to consider for our Paper Manufacturing Engineer opportunity for the paper department at the Halsey Mill located in Halsey, Oregon.

Our Team

This position will support the operation of Tissue paper machines. The role is responsible for increasing the effectiveness of the asset group by improving reliability, work processes, equipment performance, and team member capabilities. The identified candidate will report to the Production Leader.

What You Will Do

  • Drive a culture of safety and environmental excellence through critical hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage and execute Georgia-Pacific's reliability and asset strategies
  • Lead the continuous efforts to identify, investigate, recommend, and implement equipment improvements, new systems, and process changes to improve productivity, yield, quality, and reduce costs
  • Driving improvement to operating metrics in all equipment of the work system
  • Collaborate with the operations team to build systems to improve productivity, quality, and reliability
  • Developing Standard Procedures and building capability of technicians to competently perform tasks following the procedures
  • Prioritize maintenance backlog based on risk. Assist in leading outage prep and execution. Create and implement lockouts.
  • Exemplify and advance Principle Based Management

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 3 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
  • 2 years or more experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and/or reliability strategies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering WITH 3 or more years of manufacturing experience
  • 5 or more years of manufacturing experience within a paper or pulp manufacturing operation
  • Experience as a supervisor with responsibility for direct reports
  • Experience working with a CMMS system (ex: SAP, Maximo, etc)
