Position Highlights The Geotechnical Center of Excellence (GCE) is a cross-disciplinary, industry funded and member-led organization within the University of Arizona's School of Mining and Mineral Resources. We are seeking a highly-organized, detail-oriented, effective communicator to serve as an Education & Outreach Coordinator.

The incumbent will provide comprehensive administrative support to the GCE's global professional development (PD) program and outreach efforts. Duties will include coordinating PD program logistics, managing participant interactions, organizing live webinars, maintaining program documentation, and managing content development timelines for subject matter experts. The role will also support the GCE's outreach efforts, including support for planning and execution of Stakeholder/Member meetings and conferences. The selected candidate will work closely with the GCE's existing team to ensure the smooth operation and effectiveness of new and ongoing professional development initiatives.

This position is eligible for a hybrid, flexible work schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate all aspects of the professional development program:

  • Develop and schedule program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations, oversee daily operations and coordinate activities of program, and determine priorities.
  • Schedule courses, workshops, or seminar releases, and the advertising timeline.
  • Oversee participant registrations and inquiries and ensuring accurate records.
  • Maintain program documentation, update course materials, create and distribute program schedules, and compile participant feedback.
  • Ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for visitors by providing and modeling quality customer service.

Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for course contributors and subject matter experts and facilitate communication.
  • Develop, compile, and write communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers, and coordinate process from development through printing and distribution.
  • Develop workshops, meetings, or conferences, and coordinates logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
  • Coordinate presentations and ensure contributor needs are met.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and improve program offerings and identify potential speakers.

Logistical Support:

  • Organize expert webinars and assist with participant engagement.
  • Schedule mailers, social posts, and other external communications and marketing items.
  • Monitor program metrics and generate reports to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and support decision making.
  • Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, and records on program activities, progress, status, or other special event.

Geotechnical Center of Excellence (GCE) Outreach:

  • Plan and execution of semi-annual GCE stakeholder/member meetings.
  • Plan future conferences and symposiums, and coordinate logistics.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to ensure proper marketing of events and programs.

May supervise student workers.

Additional duties as assigned.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a passion for promoting growth and excellence within the mining community.
  • Skilled in effectively communicating with diverse stakeholder groups to ensure alignment and foster strong collaborative relationships.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite and data management.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience in the mining industry, including knowledge of key concepts, processes, and technologies, or a Bachelors degree in a mining related field.
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience managing or coordinating education programs.
  • Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM), web-based scheduling system, or curriculum management.
