About UC Blue Ash

The Media Communications & Technology Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our Media Criticism & Journalism Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio and one of the most diverse colleges at the University of Cincinnati. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 5,100 students. We value excellent teaching and personalized student support to help students achieve their goals, whether the goal is to enter a career or to continue education. Job Overview

Part-time faculty must be able to teach a variety of Media Criticism & Journalism courses, depending on candidates' expertise, within a fully online academic program. Therefore, we are actively seeking Adjunct Faculty with experience and/or interest in teaching fully online courses.

Courses to be staffed are in three major groupings:

Group 1 - Media Studies Courses: Media Criticism; Media Aesthetics & Criticism; Media Scriptwriting; and Media Assets & Law.

Group 2 - Media Journalism Courses: Survey of Media Journalism; and Introduction toPhotojournalism

Group 3 - Media History Courses: American Cinema; World Cinema; History ofPhotography; and History of Animation.

Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students; and (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year.

Classes may be offered day or evening. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions

  • On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses.
  • Evaluate student coursework.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University and student-related communications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • Group 1 Courses: Require a Master's Degree in media technology, media/film studies, or a related field; Media Assets and Law requires a JD degree with focus on intellectual property and/or media business practices.


  • Group 2 Courses: Require at Bachelor's Degree with course work in journalism, photojournalism and/or documented professional experience in the field.


  • Group 3 Courses: Require a Master's Degree media technology, media/film studies, or a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in art history, photo/media history, and/or film history/studies, as these courses serve as general educationrequirements in historical perspective and fine arts.


Required Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in professional media design and production.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • A Master's degree in the specific media discipline or a related field for adjunct faculty in all course groupings.
  • At least one year of teaching experience in a college setting.
